The Weeknd just dropped a new music video for Secrets and it’s filmed in the Toronto Reference Library.
The track is off of his LP Starboy that was released in 2016, and Abel seems to keep at it.
In the video you can see the simplicity of him walking through the library singing, but at the same, it has a trippy vibe to it as well. A woman at the beginning is floating, while men in black suits watch her fall back with another man and look deep into each others’ eyes.
The track is about a woman Abel has strong feelings for and he catches her in a midst of lies about their relationship. He continuously asks her what her heart desires and she may tell him that she wants him, but he knows she wants to be involved with other men too. He hears the Secrets she keeps away from him when she’s sleep talking, re assuring that he is right about her to begin with.
The lies she’s told him about seeing other men and for him not to worry he believed, but now that he knows the truth, he’s reflecting on it in the song. Very strong emotion and meaning with the little amount of words Abel sings, making it a simple yet complex video and track for his fans to indulge in.
A lot of fans are interested to know whether the song is about The Weeknd’s girlfriend Selena Gomez, and the woman that is starred in the video apparently looks like Selena from behind, so who’s to say Abel isn’t trying to say something with that. Coincidence? What do you think.
